The reasons for private lessons

1:1 German lessons are an effective way of learning a language whether it might be for holidays, school, exams, university or business. After an initial meeting, lessons are tailored to your individual needs and your language goal. Lessons can be taught in person or online, in your home or our office and also in a place of your choice, e.g. a quiet coffee shop or hotel lobby. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS, ALL LESSONS ARE CURRENTLY ONLINE!

Private lessons enable you to make faster progress in a language, so if you only have a certain time frame in mind, this is your best option.

Individual German lessons also mean that I can tailor my lessons towards your individual learning style. Are you or your child a visual learner or a hands-on learner? My varied teaching background enables me to re-design learning material to fit with the required learning style, so that lessons will be enjoyable and productive.

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

What will a typical German lesson consist of?

Lessons are always interactive and typically involve phonics (pronunciation), conversation, reading, listening, some writing, games and grammar which fits the context of the lesson. Don’t worry, this will be explained clearly! Moreover grammatical rules give you a sound scaffolding, so you will be able to use the language confidently.

Lessons can be flexible to fit in with your schedule.

German lessons for children

Being a qualified Primary School Teacher and having taught languages to children from Nursery upwards, I know how important the fun aspect of language learning is – but, of course, this applies to every learner! Using puppets for younger learners, interactive games, German children’s books, German fairy tales, songs, dance and films make lessons exciting. The result: Children are engaged and want to learn! The long-term benefits of learning another language go beyond being able to communicate with others.

In addition to that, I am an experienced home-tutor and available for home-schooling.

Susanne is a great German tutor. She mixes fun and education together and also takes my needs and works on them. Susanne makes German fun and exciting.
